katie’s LITTLE things

practice daily gratitude· your LITTLE things

ntlt friday friends

meet my friend katie.

the first time i remember wanting to know katie is when she was the girl with the sparkly red pom pom pig tails tearing up the dance floor. we were in college. that should explain things.

katie is fun. she has this energy about her that exudes positivity. you can’t help but be in a good mood. she is the perfect balance of go with the flow and get the job done. and she has a heart of gold. think of the nicest, kindest, most caring, supermom, environment loving, would do anything for anyone person and you will be thinking of katie. and she makes it all look easy.

back to supermom. katie just has this way with kids, her own and others. i think she was the only one in college who was always sure about her major. she is a teacher through and through. she is passionate, creative, patient, understanding, funny, and truly able to see the joy in her students and two adorable kiddos.

we haven’t lived in the same state since college but that hasn’t stopped the fun or friendship from continuing across the miles…and today katie’s sharing her list of 10 LITTLE things for

ntlt friday friends

welcome katie! thank you for noticing and sharing.

here is katie’s list for 12.2.16

1.  putting up christmas lights on our new house! with a new house, the possibilities seem endless as to all the ways we can light up the neighborhood.

2. the ability rainy days have to allow you a free pass to be lazy, or stay inside and get some things done that have been on the back burner for awhile.

3.  parent-teacher conferences. i love hearing about the trimester through the eyes of the student to hear what they loved doing and are proud of. it’s also great to reassure students that we are all on their side and support them through the sometimes challenging teenage years.

4.  christmas music! it’s the best time in the year because i finally have control over the radio in my car while i’m driving my kids. not that i don’t love the vacation bible school cd, but all good things have their limits!

5.  getting a chance to hang out with old friends that moved away this summer.

6.  the smell of a wood-burning fire. my school is located in a wooded area and many of the surrounding homes use wood-burning fires for heat. we also have a fireplace in our common area on campus, and on very cold days we get a chance to fire it up.

7.   waking up with a good song in your head. was i dancing and singing in my dreams? i don’t know, but it’s fun to wake up with a fun beat, ready to start your day.

8.  holiday cards. since having my second child, i have been terrible at actually following through with making AND sending out our holiday card, but i sure do love to get them.

9.  my 3-and-a-half-year-old jumping out of bed each morning, so excited to move the gingerbread man another day closer on the calendar to christmas. his fantastic memory, and my terrible lack thereof, are pretty good reasons as to why the elves have yet to show up in our house.

10.  puffy vests. it’s so exciting that it’s finally cold enough here in north carolina to bust them out! what’s better than a piece of clothing that goes perfectly with almost anything AND covers all mid-section imperfections! amazing!
