meet my sister cait.
for as long as i can remember, caitlin has been a part of my life. she wasn’t born until i was 3 1/2, but i don’t remember any farther back than that. it just feels like she’s been here forever.
there have been times where i’ve just barely made it through church with my sanity, or i’m finally in line at target, and the older person in front of me will stop me. with a knowing look, that person will tell me to cherish these times. remember them. they are the best times of your life, they tell me, and they go too fast.
that’s how i feel about my childhood with my sisters, including caitlin. i am sure we fought. i am sure there were times i wished she was someone else’s sister. i know she borrowed my clothes without asking. she might still do that. but when i look back on my childhood, i just remember the fun. the times of our life.
i remember squeezing cait into our barbie bus and tying it to the back of my bike with a jump rope and riding up and down the street. no helmets involved. i remember making up dances in our backyard with neighborhood friends and charging our parents to attend. i remember sharing a room and asking her if she was asleep yet and her saying yes. i remember playing don’t step in the hot lava from her bed to mine. i remember one time it was raining and she brought an umbrella to meet me at the bus stop. i remember loving that one year we were actually at the same school, and passing her in the hallway thinking that’s my sister. i remember watching her play basketball and hearing the people in the crowd talk about how good she was. i remember always liking her, and always feeling like more of myself when she was around.
not a day goes by that i don’t talk to caitlin. we text back and forth and talk throughout the day. our conversations span numerous topics from the latest scoops, to prayer requests, to reassurances that whatever is driving us crazy about our kids is normal.
she is the absolute funniest person i know, without even trying. she is smart. she is kind, caring, dependable. she is a woman of great integrity. she is rational, and reasonable, a great listener, beautiful, laid back, and easy to be around. she is an exceptional mama of three boys {all under the age of two!} and she’s totally pulling it off, even when she thinks she’s not. i could not be more proud to be caitlin’s sister…and she’s sharing today for
ntlt friday friends
