meet denise.
once upon a time my brother-in-law steven started taking calls. like, actually answering his phone. and making calls too. during meals. in the car. in the middle of a football game. this was completely abnormal behavior. he was the worst at even remembering his phone.
i knew whoever was on the other end of those phone calls must be something else. i started to hear her name from time to time. denise. and then more often. at this point, i’d know steven for years. i met my husband keven {and his twin brother steven} in college. and i’d never seen steven like this about anyone.
when i finally got to meet her, it was easy to see why steven had fallen for her so quickly. nice. oh she was nice. just so nice. and calm. laid back. easy going. {lots of things i am not!} i don’t think anyone could ever meet denise and not like her.
i am so thankful for our friendship and to call her my sister. though i got to see her far more often when we lived in florida, the distance doesn’t make us any less close. like last weekend. we met up in DC for a wedding and just picked up where we left off. we laugh a lot. and roll our eyes at our husbands a lot. we team up against their crazy antics and in that way share a bond that’s unique for us.
we share a love of all things crafty. she is incredibly creative in ways i never could be. she is kind. loves animals and the environment. she has a passion for good. she has a huge heart and my kids adore her. she takes her role as aunt very seriously and they can feel the love across the miles.
denise is a patient listener. she is a woman of faith. she is adventurous, honest, loves the outdoors, and can keep plants alive forever. and she’s from canada! in lots of ways, she is the opposite of me, and i think that’s what makes our friendship work. for the things that matter, we are on the same page, and for everything else, i am so blessed to look up to her…and she’s sharing her LITTLE things today for
ntlt friday friends
