meet my neighbor kim.
my first run in with kim, or rather her house, was an extension cord running from my basement window to her garage. weird.
i talked about this briefly when mary shared for friday friends. we closed on our house. we had a two year old and a three week old. i was frazzled, but i just wanted to walk in the door and look at the house that was finally ours. you can imagine my puzzlement when i arrived to see the extension cord set up.
i soon learned that the neighbors i hadn’t even met yet were powering our sump pump. we’d been having storms. knowing our electricity was surely turned off by the former owners, and that likely our sump pump wasn’t working, kim ran an extension cord from our basement window to her garage to prevent a flood in our new house. and she didn’t even know us.
welcome to indianapolis, folks. where your neighbors pay for your power before they even know you. i almost cried over the kindness, and it hasn’t stopped for three whole years.
kim is the type of person who gives, and gives, and gives, and does favors, and gives, and asks you what you need, and then makes you her famous avocado egg salad for lunch even though she’s been watching your kids all day. i try to return the favors but i can’t keep up with her kindness!
i am not kidding when i say our neighbors are one of our biggest blessings. they are totally my village and kim is at the forefront. she is friendly, welcoming, 100% selfless, the best mom, friend, and neighbor. i would totally lose my sanity without her and i am so thrilled she is sharing on the blog today for…
ntlt friday friends
