meet sara
i had this friend in college. we called him dad. he was responsible. in college. weird, right? he knew how to change flat tires, thought to make a back up cd of all my pictures in case i lost my camera {which i did}, and wasn’t messy. in college.
when he started talking about this girl sara he met at a cookout, i couldn’t wait to meet her. when i finally did, all i could think was, he has met his match. sara was awesome. so organized. smart. on top of things. driven. generous. self-less. fun. it was like we’d always been friends.
put together.
that is how i would describe sara, who over the years has become one of my closest friends. amidst the most chaotic days or circumstances, she always has it together {even if she might not think so}. you know there are just those people who are so consistently reliable and good, they make you want to be a better person? that is sara. i truly cannot say enough.
yesterday i got a text from sara saying she was trying to narrow down her list of 17 LITTLE things to 10. see. reliable and on top of it. then i got an email today saying 10 just wasn’t going to happen. it needed to be 12. and since 12 is sara’s favorite number, it is only fitting she share 12 LITTLE things for today’s
ntlt friday friends
welcome sara!
here is sara’s list for 1.27.17
1. kids who can put their own shoes on – i don’t think i can ever move on to laces!
2. finishing my coffee without having to reheat it.
3. instacart.
4. mailing a card or note to someone – long live snail mail! even better if it’s for no special occasion other than a funny card or random memory.
5. taking the time to reconcile my iphone calendar, a paper planner, and a household calendar i keep posted in the kitchen – matching and functioning schedules make me so happy!
6. clean bathroom counters.
7. using super cute cupcake liners for everyday breakfast muffins.
8. H always having part of her dress stuck in her pants after a potty break. every. single. time. to be so little and so oblivious must be magical.
9. walking kids into preschool even when the carpool lane is calling my name, it’s raining, or i’m rushing to a meeting. it’s precious time and i love seeing them light up when they see their teachers and friends.
10. being in the car alone – my music or no music. no policing the siblings. focused on the road with just my thoughts. wait – is this a car ride to target or a vacation?
11. delay start option on the washing machine. waking up to a washed load of laundry to simply throw it in the dryer before i leave the house, or to delay a load to start washing an hour before we return home. serious time and sanity saver.
12. B singing “open up the champagne, pop!” i am so embarrassed and proud at the same time.
