Are you looking to switch up your Christmas Card display this year? Or maybe you just wonder how other families hang Christmas Cards, need a small space Christmas Card display idea, or want a creative way to display your Christmas cards that you haven’t seen before? In this post, check out 5 favorite Christmas Card display ideas I found on pinterest, plus two cute ideas for displaying Christmas Cards in small spaces, AND a look at how we hang Christmas cards at our house!
i know there’s an ongoing debate in most Moms’ heads each year, “should i send Christmas cards this year or not?!” i’ve wondered the same from year to year but my husband happens to be a huge fan of Christmas Cards, so even if i wanted to skip a year, i think he’d send them out.
but he would quick choose a picture from his most recent camera roll (he would TOTALLY do that) and since i’d like to have a *little bit* more control than that, i usually take on the task of ordering our Christmas cards.
plus, i will confess, i kind of adore addressing Christmas cards!
i get out my favorite black calligraphy pen (i do NOT know how to do calligraphy. i just think the pen makes my regular writing look fancy!), pour a glass of red wine, turn on a hallmark christmas movie, and start addressing.
and when it comes to displaying Christmas Cards, i also love the way we’ve finally decided to display ours. but i’ll tell ya, for a few years there as the cards started to roll in i found myself searching:
how to display Christmas cards?
how to display Christmas cards in a small space?
best ideas for hanging Christmas cards so you can see them all.

so if you find yourself in the same boat, wondering how to display your Christmas Cards this year, i found 5 Easy Christmas Card Display Ideas on pinterest, plus i found two great ideas for small spaces, and i will show you what we do.

5 Easy Christmas Card Display Ideas Anyone Can Do
1. Christmas Card Display Tree
isn’t this the cutest?! i never would have thought of this on my own. this creative Christmas card idea comes from Haeley at Design Improvised (on pinterest here) and i think the genius here is in the simplicity of this idea. the supply list is at a minimum, which i always love when it comes to DIY.
i also love that if you get a lot of cards you can do a large tree, or a collection of 3, and if you get a few cards you can do a smaller tree!
plus anyone can do this, right?!! even if you don’t have a lot of wall space, you could make a second tree in a tv room, a kid’s bedroom, or an office for any overflow cards you may have and all of a sudden this becomes an easy small space Christmas Card display idea too.
you can read more about how to create this DIY Christmas Tree Holiday Card Display right here.
2. Ribbon and Ladder Christmas Card Display
this next idea from Chantal at House and Home (on pinterest here) is another one i never would have thought of! but soooooo many of us have these decorative ladders these days – why not use them to hang our Christmas Cards!
our ladder usually holds our blankets, some hankies that were embroidered by my grandmother, and some greenery but i am thinking cards might be the perfect addition for the holidays.
you can see the full post on this Christmas Card Ladder Display here at House and Home. it’s called A Victorian Farmhouse With Fairy Tale Charm and all of the pictures are quite magical.
TIP – i’ve also seen where the twine or ribbon (love the red and white gingham ribbon here!!) is draped at a diagonal from rung to run of the ladder so you can display even more cards!
3. Present Door Christmas Card Display
Thrifty Decor Chick (on pinterest here) is a blog i have ALWAYS loved and they have an oldie but goodie here with the “ribbon that looks like a present on a door” best Christmas Card Display idea.
what i like about this is i’ve seen the ribbon going down the door (or even multiple ribbons), but i haven’t seen where you also cross to make it look like a present. maybe it’s just me??
i also love this simple red and white striped ribbon AND highly recommend a buffalo plaid ribbon – something we use in our own Christmas Card display pictured below!
you can read more about how to do this AND make sure it stays hung up here at Sarah’s post Easy and Quick DIY Christmas Card Door Display.
TIP – i’ve also seen people do this on their kitchen cabinets and that makes for a super festive kitchen all season long. or you could stick with a pantry door. or you could do it on your upstairs bedroom doors to line the hall.
4. Hang Christmas Cards Like Ornaments
Rebecca at Hello Central Avenue (on pinterest here) has another “anyone can do this” idea for how to hang Christmas Cards. and it is ADORABLE!
it feel very farmhouse style to me (my favorite!) and she recommends hanging your Christmas Cards on your Christmas Tree or getting a special tree just for hanging cards (i am doing this next year!!!!).
you can read more about how to do this the easy way in How to Display Christmas Cards Like Ornaments.
5. Hoop Wreath Christmas Card Display
this last idea comes from the by Hallmark Staff at 6 Creative Christmas Card Display Ideas.
i will say, i am on board with the hoop wreath! there are SO MANY creative ways to use this style wreath. you can buy one at your local craft store, spray paint a hula hoop (definitely trying this this summer), or find one premade at really any craft store these days.
with this idea by Hallmark (on pinterest here) all you have to do is just add some favorite ribbon, twine, or garland from side to side on your hoop and hang cards from there.
ok now let’s get to our…
